The Introductions
Adam and I first met in university, we were living in the same block of flats and became friends. It was not until years later having drifted apart, as most Uni friendship groups do, that I got back in contact with Adam via facebook. I had got a job in the town where he lived and was moving there so thought it would be nice to see a friendly face. From that night out for drinks we have pretty much been inseparable. 5 years down the line, 2 dogs and a house move later Adam proposed on a lovely dog walk at the beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It was perfect as there was no body else around, just our little family unit. He even caught it all on camera pretending to get us to pose for a photo.
Wedding Planning is a go-go…
We knew we didn’t want a long engagement, which proved a bit tricky as most wedding venues were booked up for years and years in advance. We knew we wanted to get married in a church and were open minded to different venues for the reception. We both have big families so we wanted somewhere to accommodate all of us, was child friendly and a nice relaxed feel. We didn’t have a set theme in mind so started the hunt straight away.
We stumbled across Wedbarn from days and days spent googling wedding venues. We were open to locations so we set off to Halifax after booking a viewing. Neither of us have a connection to Halifax and its vaguely the same distance to both our parents so it was the perfect fit. We fell in love straight away and as soon as we found out they had a date available that was exactly a year from the date we got engaged we knew it was ‘meant to be’. 2 hours after viewing the venue we phoned up and booked.
Wedbarn offered a wedding planning package which we chose and thank god we did. It was a massive help with all the different suppliers and co-ordination of the day. It took some stress off us knowing they were helping which a large part of the organising and planning. One thing we loved – food tasting. One thing we struggled with – other peoples opinions/ worries about the logistics of the day. Trust your instincts, if something doesn’t go exactly to plan then it simply wasn’t meant to be.
