I bloody LOVE The Wellbeing Farm wedding venue in Lancashire. It’s so unique and colourful and offers this amazing countryside backdrop. And of course. Llamas. Llamas in bowties. I’m not at all surprised that Lou and Mike chose it for their relaxed wedding day. Also, orange is a much underrated wedding colour – check out these flowers!
The Introductions…
“Mike and I met when we worked together a few years ago. We went to a few gigs together in the early days, something which we still love to do now. Mike soon moved in and became best friends with our dog, Bailey – they’re practically inseparable now! We had a trip to France planned in September 2017 to visit Disneyland Paris then drive down to Toulouse to visit some family. When the trip came round I had a feeling Mike was planning on proposing so was obviously a bit excited! Our last day in Disney came around and I was a bit apprehensive. We headed to the parks and Mike sent me through security ahead of him (very subtle darling) and we stood in front of the castle in the pouring rain and watched the beautiful fireworks… we then headed back to the hotel!!! Once we’d dried out Mike got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I said yes and it was the perfect end to our Disney adventure.
Choosing our venue…
A friend had actually sent me a link to the venue a couple of months before we got engaged saying that if Mike and I ever get married we had to chose there! A couple of weeks after we got engaged they had an open day so we went and had a look round and both knew instantly that it was the place for us. It felt super relaxed and we knew all the children we were inviting would love running around playing.
We loved the llamas and donkeys at the venue and knew our guests would love meeting them too. We met with Rachel (their wedding co-ordinator) who was so friendly and answered all our questions. We soon booked The Wellbeing Farm for our wedding and Rachel continued to keep in touch via email and phone to ensure our day was perfect. The day went perfectly and we have loved hearing from our friends and family about how much they enjoyed it.
Our Awesome Wedding Suppliers…
Photographer – Jessica Lang
Jess was amazing. We had a engagement shoot with her a few weeks before the wedding which we were quite nervous about but we actually had a great time and didn’t feel pressured or self conscious. We were blown away when we saw the photos and will treasure them for years to come.. we actually displayed some of them at our wedding. In the lead up to the wedding Jess was fantastic at making sure she knew exactly what we wanted her to capture from the day and we felt very confident in her. She was amazing on the day and my bridesmaids also commented on how relaxed they felt in front of the camera. When we received the wedding photos I’m not embarrassed so say I cried… a lot! As everyone tells you, your wedding day goes so fast and it all seems like a blur afterwards, but Jess perfectly captured our day and we were able to relive it through her work.
Hair – Sam Gately
A friend recommended Sam after using her for her wedding and loving what she did. I was very lucky to be able to book Sam as she regualrly takes bookings for 1-2 yrs in advance! After a few emails, I went to her salon in Blackburn and had a trial to see how I would like my hair on my wedding day. I loved the style and we discussed everything that I should do in preparation to ensure that my hair would stay looking great all day. On the morning of the wedding Sam was great, made us all feel at ease and had a good giggle with us. Myself and the bridesmaids all absolutely loved our hair.
Make Up – Jae from Leanne Jackson Make Up
Make Up is one thing I was really worried about as I don’t wear any make up normally so I was concerned I’d feel like a clown! A few weeks before the wedding Jae come round to my house and did a make-up trial for me and my mum and we absolutely loved it! She was so lovely and made us both feel at ease throughout and I was so chuffed with the results.. I instantly took selfies and sent them to my friends! I then felt really confident that Jae would do a perfect job for me, my mum and my bridesmaids on the big day!
Flowers – Sweet Pea Floristry
After meeting Sweet Pea Floristry at a wedding fair I emailed them to book for our wedding. Their portfolio was incredible and they really understood what we wanted from our flowers. We met twice before the wedding day to discuss ideas and confirm everything we needed and agreed which flowers would be delivered where. The flowers were absolutely stunning on the day and lasted for ages too meaning my family got enjoyment out of them after the wedding too which was really lovely.
Stationary – Lucy Brown
Lucy Brown has been a friend of mine for many years since meeting at university. She had recently done all the stationary for some other weddings and it was all stunning so I knew she would do an amazing job for us. Everything was perfect and so “us”. We got loads of compliments on the stationary from guests who loved it.
DJ – Andy K
The Wellbeing Farm (venue) recommended Andy K to DJ our wedding so we emailed him to check he was available to DJ our big day. He soon replied and we kept in touch up to the wedding day, discussing music choices and a couple of games we would play in the evening. He was brilliant on the night and kept the dance floor buzzing the whole time. We played a game of Mr & Mrs which guests have since told us how much they enjoyed it, and we also all had a game of Limbo… I shocked myself at how good I was!! I would definitely recommend Andy to DJ any event.
Lessons Learnt…
I would recommend brides and grooms to book suppliers early – some take bookings two years in advance, so book early to secure your faves. Everyone will tell you not to sweat the small stuff and that the day goes incredibly quickly… you’ll listen but never quite believe how quickly it really does go and how much you don’t notice the small stuff. That said, I’m glad we did put effort in to all the little bits that we didn’t even notice on the day, because looking back now, I know that we did everything we could to make our day special and have no regrets. You will feel a bit guilty after the wedding for not speaking to everyone, I still do a bit, but guests understand. There’s a lot of people there and if you spent your whole day making sure you’d spoken to everyone you’d miss so much.
