An Intimate Autumn Themed Wedding in Yorkshire- Stevie Jay Photography
A stunning red wedding dress, gorgeous autumnal details, and the cutest little wedding venue! The couple wanted an intimate cosy feel to their day, with nothing too fussy or extravagant- which they certainly achieved. Their Yorkshire venue was the perfect setting for a rustic theme, and I absolutely love the pops of autumnal colour. I also love that Lee proposed to Nikkie by hiding the ring in a pumpkin and giving it to her to be carved- such an amazing story!
The Woodman Inn is an 18th Century drinking inn which has provided sustenance to thousands of travellers in a tranquil, rural location in the tiny hamlet of Thunderbridge, near Huddersfield. Stevie Jay, their fabulous photographer says: “This is such an amazing wedding venue and so local to me too! Tucked away in a tiny rural hamlet (called Thunder Bridge – what a name!) lies The Woodman Inn. A traditional pub that’s been refurbished into a cosy wedding venue it’s perfect for a more relaxed, intimate wedding day. As an added bonus it’s surrounded by the gorgeous West Yorkshire countryside and woodlands which is perfect to explore during couple’s portraits!”
Nikkie and Lee had booked the Woodman Inn as, in their words, “It’s small and cute”. The ceremony was personal and intimate, with just 17 of their nearest and dearest celebrating with them on a Tuesday afternoon. The whole day reflected them as a couple, and they stamped their personalities on every aspect it. Stevie added: “One of my favourite parts of the day and quite possibly one of my top wedding moments ever, was when Nikkie asked for a cuppa to be ready for her straight after the ceremony! A girl after my own heart!”
Nikkie got ready in the cottages next to the Woodman Inn – I LOVE her AMAZING red wedding dress by Emily Bridal. Just STUNNING! It worked perfectly with the grey lace Coast bridesmaids dresses, Lee’s tweed suit by Ted Williams. The colour absolutely shone against their autumnal theme- I just adore the pine cones in the bouquet! She also paired it with the most beautiful red glitter Irregular choice shoes too. What a bride!
The reception was held at Thunder Bridge Gardens, just across the road, where they were joined by their guests and a tag-along caterpillar (check out the photos to meet him!) The trees and greenery made an amazing backdrop for Stevie’s stunning images, and tied in perfectly with the wedding’s autumnal theme. They ate vegetarian canapes, as requested by the bride and groom, and enjoyed a lovely afternoon together.
Top Wedding Planning Tips!
I asked Nikkie & Lee for their top wedding tips and I just loved their response: “It’s your wedding, so don’t be afraid to have the day you want, not the day that’s expected. Also the marriage is for life, the wedding is just a party!”
