Classic Rustic Wedding at Mitton Hall with Mature Couple- Daisychain Photography

I absolutely love this gorgeous couple. Thy enjoyed a simple, rustic day at Mitton Hall, that they planned in 9 weeks, having been together for twenty years! Jane, their photographer from Daisy Chain Photography, says:

“What can I say about them? They are the cutest couple I have ever come across! When I arrived to meet Jeanette, the first thing she said was “Have you seen Trevor?” Before I could reply, she followed it up with “I bet he looks so handsome!” I hadn’t actually met the couple until the day of the wedding. We had only spoken on the phone. Jeanette had warned me that neither of them liked being the centre of attention and they weren’t up for couple’s portraits. I talked them in to having just 5 minutes with me in the garden. Once they got started, I couldn’t rein them in, especially Trevor! These guy have been together for 20 years and look at each other like love struck teenagers!”

So without further ado, let’s hear from the lovely couple, Jeanette & Trevor:

The Beginning…

We have been together for 20 years…no one can accuse us of rushing into things! We have been through thick and thin together…drive each other bonkers but also think the world of each other. Our original intention was to sneak away and get married quietly with no fuss at all but once our family got wind of it they persuaded us to celebrate surrounded by all the people we love. Neither of us like being centre of attention but do love being with friends and family.

The Plans

We had been together for such a long time… once we had decided to get married we saw no reason to wait too long so knew we wanted a wedding this year. We wanted a more relaxed informal feel to the wedding and somewhere fairly local as we live in such a beautiful part of the world and so our guests could easily attend. We booked our wedding just 9 weeks before the date ..so very short time frame to organise everything!

The Venue

We are so lucky to live in the Ribble Valley with so many wedding venues, all lovely, but when we went to Mitton Hall we were just blown away- an absolutely stunning building, gardens, and the wedding room is just a perfect blank canvas for whatever type of wedding type or theme. We literally just live down the road so the views of the surrounding fields & river are so meaningful to us. The staff there were so helpful and we cannot say enough about how amazing they all were throughout the whole process especially given the short time frame- what a fantastic team. They helped us plan and enjoy what simply was the best day ever. The team worked tirelessly throughout the day and ran so smoothly. The venue, food the service- it was just perfect.

The Suppliers

We really didn’t have too long or too much time to overthink things and so this was much better for us. We wanted a more relaxed approach too so had decided not to go with matching groom and men. I had originally thought I wouldn’t want to be in a wedding dress as I was more mature, and we had to been together for sometime. I had tried on a variety of outfits but although they were lovely.

I looked like mother of the bride! So went to Amelia’s in Clitheroe and found a dress that was perfect for me.We had flowers for the registrar/Top table included in our wedding package, fromThe Flower Shop in Clitheroe- they were so professional and helpful and liaised with the our supplier for my flowers and other table flowers and decor- The Flower Cabin Blackburn. We went to Sarah Layton in Whalley to choose and order our rings. We had chosen and ordered our favours from Millionaire’s Bakery on a personal recommendation…they looked and were beautiful, and they matched our more rustic theme perfectly.

Jenna at the Flower cabin Blackburn…did all of our invitations, table plan, name places (with each guests menu choice) and table numbers…it all looked so pretty! Just what we had asked for. We also wanted music for our ceremony and drinks reception- we had in mind certain songs and feel for the day, and didn’t have to look very far- local duo Hannah Rose Music were just so perfect for our special day- a relaxed feel, wonderful repertoire of music and so beautiful to listen to. Sublime.

We were lucky enough to book a bespoke package with local photographer Daisy Chain Photography. As a camera-shy couple we hadn’t wanted formal photos and hadn’t wanted to be taken away from our guests- we wanted natural pictures of us enjoying our day. What a stroke of luck- Jane was just the photographer we needed. She was so relaxed, friendly and unobtrusive…the pictures were so natural and beautiful. Most surprising was that we were persuaded to have a few pictures just us together in the Beautiful gardens at Mitton Hall what a wise move that was! Jane had been so right. We really did enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, time to catch our breath. Trevor was unstoppable then! He kept suggesting other places to have our pictures done. We were even joined by “extra” gatecrashers…two sheep had jumped across the stream to join us! The pictures of us in the gardens really reflect how special that “breather” was.

Lessons Learned

To arrange something with short timescale was a challenge… but it helped to keep us focused on what really mattered and not get too bogged down with too much detail. Everything was beautiful and the whole day was amazing. (Thanks to family, friends and the professionals listed below)….but try not to lose sight of the what this is all about:- The two of you getting married surrounded by the love and friendship of those people who are special to you. That is what is truly important.
